Piecing WIP#3 on the Wall

While letting DW quilt Sharon's second quilt top, I dug into the bin and unearthed piecing WIP #3. It's a Ragg Quilt with only half the blocks made. I scrounged around into the flannel tubs and found a few more fabric patterns that would fit into the muted autumn colors theme and started cutting. 

As Sharon's quilt was finishing, all the flannel pieces were cut and I then moved on to the batting. Thank goodness I have all sorts of batting scraps available for use. 

By the time Sharon's quilt finished stitching out I had those cut and I was ready to start putting them together. 

Here's what I got on the wall before 8:00 last night...

WIP #3

There is one more row on the floor I couldn't get into the pic. 

I need to remove Sharon's quilt this morning and get it trimmed up before loading the next one. Jim mentioned going to an estate sale today so after Mickey comes to get her two quilts, we may scoot over there for a bit. 

But my new customer, Deb K. will have her top loaded before the day ends. I may even start it since she already knew what she wanted to have put into it and it's easily started and stopped as time permits. 

Goals Written in Sand

It's a good thing goals are written in sand and not stone. While yesterday started out pretty well on track, a lack of paying attention on my part was the result of an entire day picking out stitches on the customer quilt being worked.

Wrong color thread in the wrong area. Note to self: Double check thread colors before even attempting to machine quilt a double backed motif. 

After picking out stitches on two 18" blocks, I finished the computer portion of the project and then turned off the machine. Yesterday (like some days can be) was not a good long arming day. Hopefully today will be better.

Vertical sashing strips were completed on the Nova Star and then I started to get in the cornerstones with their horizontal sashing strips.

While DW was stitching out the motifs on the customer quilt, I started planning for our upcoming retreat beginning on Friday. Jim's quilt, that has been sitting here in wait since April, will be completed. It's all flannel and I can't wait to get it together for him.

New customer(s) are coming today after lunch with a regular customer of mine for introductions and projects. Should be interesting. 

Running Out Of Fabric

I have six projects going on in the studio right now. My Jacqueline is at a standstill because I need more fabric to finish the last go-around. I can't order any for it on-line because I need to make sure the correct colors get placed in each section. Computers aren't always true to color.

The flannel rag quilt for Jim is on hold until my order comes in from MSQC.

The Happy Camper piece may be worked next, but I'll have to pirate some of the black fabric from the Jacqueline piece to work on it.

The Row by Row quilt along is a monthly thing and until Irene puts up another month, that's parked.

The Scrap Happy top can be continued for a little bit, but once all the slabs are built, I have no background fabric for the thing...unless I pirate the white from the Row by Row to continue on. See...I need more fabric.

The quilt for my mom is in the works and the top will be completed today. The center section of this quilt is the quilt along I'm doing with Helen Godden and won't be able to quilt it until she gets through all her videos (in two weeks). BUT, I'm thinking with the leftover fabrics, I may just get creative and make a matching pillow to go with the quilt.

Moms Mothers Day Quilt for her new Condo

The wind outside today is screaming (again), so long arming probably would not be a good idea. I'll make the back for the animal/barn top from last week and at least attempt to get it loaded.

Maybe I need to get a large black and white order in to MSQC for some more white and black? I don't think I'm going to be able to get anymore otherwise.
