Taxes

The last thing most anybody wants to think about during the holiday are taxes. Seriously...not an uplifting subject. Unfortunately, the saying is true that the only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes. Today I have a 1:00 to meet with my tax preparer. Wheee.  

Meanwhile, I'm half-way done with Kathy's Tilda Lanterns...

Even with the 1:00 appointment, I'm aiming to have this done by days end. I had to knock off early last night to get all my paperwork around for today. 

And, I like to compile end of the year information (just for fun), like what's the percentage of custom versus edge-to-edge work I do. (That would be 80% custom btw). I haven't fashioned other figures yet but a report on a year-end review will be forthcoming later next week. 

Phone Calls Ahoy!

The phone yesterday rang off the hook. And with the exception of one conversation, the rest of them were lengthy talks that lasted well over 20 minutes. Five in all. I worked until well after 8:00 on Penny's quilt and all except for trimming the quilt and attaching the binding, it's done. I'll work on the binding this morning before my customer comes.

Yep, I have one coming around 10:30 this morning to pick-up. Nobody else is expected that I know of, so I'll load the next quilt later this morning or early afternoon. 

I snapped a pic of the studio (pre-Bernina) so it's here currently where I work on everything.

This will change once the Bernina shows up in a few weeks...if everything goes as we hope. 

Life and Errands

Life: Cleaning the house top to bottom which took most of the morning. Lunch. Jim decided we needed to get groceries afterwards and by the time we got home it was past the long arming hour.

I did do some piecing on the new project that was started a few days ago. This is where I left off last night...

One of the places Jim visited before he got home yesterday morning was the sign company who made the new sign for the quilting business. It will duplicate as our "lake" sign once I retire from long arming. Here it is sitting in wait for us to get it mounted at the end of the driveway.

It's gloomy today and expected to stay that way so I hope to finish the long arming on the AQS top while drawing lines on squares for the next step in the heart top above.
