Two Weeks Tomorrow...

...since Lucy's surgery. She gets her stitches out and, an added bonus, I get to take Hazel with me tomorrow to get her annual heartworm check done. This could be very interesting. Hopefully Jim will be able to ride along and assist since he's pretty slow at work right now.

All this negative space gives me permission to have some fun. This was loaded yesterday afternoon (customers in the morning as well as a backing wash/frame iron before lunch). I'm about 1/3 of the way into it.

These take forever to do, but they are so pretty and I just couldn't resist. The girls seem rather goofy and playful this morning; probably the cooler weather. Hopefully they'll calm down enough soon so I'm able to work. 

I worked on a second bag last night but just got it started so I'll work on that tonight if I get Janice's quilt done. 

I have made a business decision to change my current web hosting company from Vista Prints to UENI. with VP I was having to make all the changes, drive the account, write and edit content, insert pics, decide on color schemes, etc. UENI will do everything for me. I just give them information and they do the rest. And it's a one-time fee rather than an annual fee. Since my web site isn't the basis for my clientele (seriously, very few actually look at it), this will be a perfect solution and still be present to the public. 

Web Site Down

ilovequiltingatthelake.com is down for a few days while switching over from one host to another. There's a 48 hour waiting period before the change takes effect. 

This is what I had to deal with first thing this morning. Then, just as I entered the studio to "work" a customer came to drop off two more tops. 

Now the day can begin.

Luann's Pumpkin

This is one of two completed yesterday. After I shut the lights off in the studio at 8:00-ish I was too tired to remove and trim the quilt.

Today I'm loading Luann's last quilt which will have pics shown tomorrow.

And we're getting ready for Jim's ankle surgery. He's feverishly trying to get my pressing/cutting table done beforehand but, of course, other little things interfere with his work. And I'm receiving deliveries for the big day, like crutches, scooters, chairs, etc. to interrupt my work day(s) as well. 

It looks like removing the rod thingie on our water heater is the solution to removing the smell/minerals passing through our water. That's one of the little things he had to deal with last night. Hopefully we'll have a productive day today and actually work through what we have in our heads that needs to be done. 

Honking and Cleaning

With the sun changing angles it lets me know just how dirty/linty the studio windows get. This morning was spent cleaning the insides of the large windows all while being honked at by a goose that apparently has lost its flock because it is just carrying on all by its little self down at the lake.

Becky's Christmas Top

Nothing sewing ever happened last night because I took advantage of the quiet house to rework my web site hosting/domain hosting situation. What a CF! 

I was either on the phone, on a text thread, or both at the same time trying to move from WIix to Vista Prints hosting, all while parking my domain at Name Cheap so I can move it easier in the future should the need arise. 

I'm pretty tech savvy, but this was an acronym nightmare while trying to understand what all the wonderful technical support people were trying to tell me. It looks as though we have the situation under control, and the web site is in limbo for now. People can still see the Wix site, but it's soon moving to the Vista Prints site probably in about a week. 

Long arming this morning. The neighbors are coming up later and are taking their pontoon downstate to be sold. The result of not having a "real" lake for two to three more years. I'm sad. I love their pontoon and we have already made so many great memories even for the short time we've been here. 

Web Site

Building a web site even with something easy like Wix takes a LOT of time. An hour each morning and evening is getting me going, but wow! The time investment is HUGE!

My new DIL created a logo for me and while I like it, and it works fine, it's just not quite right yet. After pondering for a few weeks about this situation, I finally drew this up and, quite frankly, LOVE IT!

Meanwhile, I continue to long arm during the in-between times.

New Web Site

I've kicked Wordpress out of my life. After struggling with that site for a year, I couldn't take it anymore. I tried feverishly to get my site running through them and frankly, was more confused the longer I worked with it.

Bummer though...they are holding my URL hostage and won't release it. I had to rename my web site and do some damage control of the weekend's work with WIX, but I think the site is "roughed in" enough to at least provide a little information.

The new web site is now called (drum roll please)...

I'm not changing my business name, just the physical URL to get to my information out there for potential/current customers.

Now that I've wasted a portion of my morning dealing with that, I can start doing some actual work in here. I'll be loading Jill's first quilt this morning and get it started. I have a Sugaridoo row to make. Some Jacqueline de Jong strips to start (there are lots of those to work on) and then who knows where the day will take me.

Catmosphere is complete and Hannah will be the recipient for her birthday in May.
