I Said No!

I had an inquiry yesterday about some quilting a new customer needed. I actually referred them out to another long armer. I just can't take in any more business. My feet and back are saying no.

Getting the two borders in

I'm doing an every other checkerboard in the sashing between each of the blocks. I did a lot of unsewing yesterday...

It's supposed to be every other!

And the rest of the week is going to be spent on working this quilt during the day. As much as I told myself I wasn't going to get nuts with it...well...that didn't work out so well. I have a bamboo batt in there and that gives me permission to lay down more thread. And, even though it's local, this is going to be in a show. 

After working on Tulips well past 'quitting' time, I moved over to Bernie to work on Make Do and Mend. I have row three completely in! Actually, I've started all the mint in the top of row four and did that while talking to our son in Ohio. Speaking of sons...

This one received his promotion to First Lieutenant this morning in Germany!

I'm so proud to have a military son. Of course, I'm prior military so maybe I'm a little bias?

Lia's Masters hooding

Lia and Caleb are now both Masters recipients and the weekend rounded up heading to Lansing again for Zechariah's 2nd birthday party on Saturday. 

Okay, so Sunday the girls needed baths and after that I HAD to sew something. Since I was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday, and you see what we were doing Thursday-Saturday, Sunday was spent intermittently sewing stuff. I finished the Cabin quilt (didn't get a pic), got the binding put on this little piece...

And I'm working on getting the blanket stitching around the Welcome piece for our RV. Sewing machine is hanging out in the back room while I'll be working on that for the next few days. 

So, now it's back to our regularly scheduled programming. Expecting a customer drop off later today. I'll be on DW working on Pat's braided quilt, and getting Dianes quilt off Bernie and another loaded. Wow do I miss long arming; I can't wait to finish the house chores and fire up the big machine!

Delayed

I have been delayed in posting anything new because of the "little kid" graduation. It sounds like a kindergarten graduation, doesn't it? It's actually our youngest son, who is 24, who graduated from Army basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. This is Caleb and me just after the ceremony. I couldn't be prouder. Doubly so because I too am former Army, as is my dad, and his dad too.

Hopefully I'll get back to daily postings now that all the travel dust (snow) has been brushed off and we are settling back into our pre-travel routines.

Jim is back to work. The puppy is back to peeing on the floor, and I am back to chasing the puppy around and not getting much quilting done. But I'm sure going to try on the days she likes to nap more than play.
